Format, Content, & Grading of the Missouri Bar Exam

 



All data provided below are subject to change by a decision at any time by the Missouri Board of Law Examiners.  When any changes are made, they will be posted on this site.

The Missouri Bar Exam is a two-day exam -- Tuesday and Wednesday -- with the essays and performance questions on Tuesday and the MBE on Wednesday.

First Day (Tuesday):  

10 Essay Questions 
(the MEE and questions drafted by the Missouri bar examiners)

Grading of the Missouri Bar Exam:

The local essay portion is weighted 60 per cent.

The MBE is weighted 40 per cent.

The two scores are combined, with a minimum of 1,200 on a 2,000-point scale required to pass.

MPRE

You must receive a scaled score of 80 on the MPRE.


Missouri Bar Exam Details


Admission on Motion 
(i.e., without having to sit for the bar exam)


1. You must be a graduate of an ABA-accredited law school.

2. You must be admitted to the bar of another jurisdiction and must have practiced law for at least five of the prior 10 years.

3. The other jurisdiction must have a similar policy by which Missouri attorneys can be admitted without taking that jurisdiction's bar exam.
